- Company Overview
Belgrave Construction Ltd is a UK-wide main contractor delivering commercial and residential projects, including new-builds, high-end renovations and specialist refurbishments.
- Employees: 12 core staff
- Turnover: ~£6 million
- Live projects: 6 (at any time)

The company is committed to supporting the UK Government target of Net Zero by 2050 and to reducing the carbon footprint of its operations and supply chain.
- Reporting Boundary & Scope
We report emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting (SECR)guidance.
| Scope | Sources Included |
| Scope 1 (Direct) | Fuel used by company-leased vans; on-site use of diesel for owned plant and generators |
| Scope 2 (Indirect, energy) | Electricity consumption in our offices |
| Scope 3 (Other Indirect) | • Hired plant & equipment • Business travel by subcontractors • Embodied carbon in materials (concrete, steel, bricks, timber, roof tiles) • Waste & recycling • Employee commuting • Upstream transport & delivery of materials |
Baseline year: FY 2024–25
Baseline emissions: will be determined through a first-year carbon audit (see section 6).
- Current Position & Strengths
- Construction approach often re-uses existing materials (brick, steel, timber, roof tiles) where practicable.
- Increasing experience delivering low-carbon technologies on projects (air-source and ground-source heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage).
- Electric office energy (no direct gas heating).
- Leased vehicle fleet gives flexibility to transition to low-emission vehicles.
- Long-standing subcontractor relationships enable collaborative improvement in supply-chain practices.
- Carbon Reduction Targets
Belgrave Construction aims to:
- Reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2024–25 baseline, through fleet decarbonisation, improved site energy practices and office efficiency.
- Engage supply chain to achieve 25% reduction in key Scope 3 emissions by 2030, focusing on material efficiency, waste reduction and low-carbon procurement.
- Achieve Net Zero by 2050 in line with UK Government commitment.
- Planned Carbon Reduction Measures
- Fleet & Plant
- Introduce telematics and driver-efficiency training to cut diesel use immediately.
- Replace at least 50% of vans with electric or hybrid by 2028 (prioritise vans on urban projects).
- Work with plant-hire partners to source Stage V / electric or hybrid plant.
- Use HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) as an interim diesel substitute where supply allows.
- Site Energy & Practices
- Roll out smart metering on major sites to monitor and manage temporary power consumption.
- Specify LED task lighting and automatic shut-off for site cabins and plant.
- Introduce site waste-reduction plans and segregated recycling to cut landfill and improve circularity.
- Pilot low-carbon site compounds (battery storage + solar-hybrid generators) for remote projects.
- Office & Business Travel
- Procure 100% renewable electricity for offices by 2026.
- Continue use of digital project documentation to minimise paper and printing.
- Promote video conferencing to reduce travel.
- Offer an EV salary-sacrifice or leasing scheme for staff.
- Materials & Supply Chain
- Embed a “reuse before buy” policy for structural steel, timber, and roof tiles.
- Work with architects and engineers to design-in low-carbon materials such as recycled steel, low-cement concrete, FSC-certified timber, lime-based plasters/renders.
- Prioritise local suppliers to minimise transport emissions.
- Record and report embodied carbon data on projects where available.
- Culture & Training
- Nominate a Carbon Champion within Belgrave Construction to oversee CRP delivery.
- Provide annual carbon-awareness training for employees and regular toolbox talks for site staff and subcontractors.
- Communicate progress internally and externally through website updates and tender documentation.
- Measurement & Reporting
- Baseline calculation: conduct a full carbon footprint for FY 2024-25 using recognised tools (e.g., GHG Protocol, BEIS conversion factors).
- Annual reporting: publish updated carbon emissions and progress against targets each financial year.
- Verification: seek independent verification of data once systems are established (target 2027).
- Review: update the CRP annually to reflect performance, changes in legislation, and new technologies.
- Declaration & Commitment
Belgrave Construction Ltd confirms that:
- The information in this CRP is true and accurate to the best of our knowledge.
- The company is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050 and to implementing the measures described.
- The CRP will be publicly available and updated annually.
